Superior Mining Commences Drill Program At Mangalisa Property, Free State Goldfield, Witwatersrand Basin, South Africa
September 9, 2008
Superior Mining International Corporation (“Superior” or “the Company”; TSX-V: SUI) is pleased to announce that it has commenced its exploration drilling program at its Mangalisa property in the eastern part of the Free State Goldfield, South Africa. Superior will explore for Witwatersrand Basin reef-hosted gold and uranium mineralization in this area. The Company will drill one (1) primary hole with up to four (4) deflections, followed by up to three (3) additional holes with up to 4 deflections each, depending on results from the first and subsequent holes.
This program represents an important milestone for Superior as the Company launches its exploration efforts and works to advance its South African asset base. Superior holds an 87% interest in the Mangalisa property through its 74% ownership position in Turquoise Moon Trading 403 Pty. Ltd., the South African company that holds the property, plus an additional 13% interest through its 50% ownership position in Middelvlei Gold Investments (Pty.) Ltd., a Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) company, based in Johannesburg South Africa.
Superior’s 180 square-kilometre Mangalisa license area is situated approximately 20 km to the east of the township of Welkom, and less than 10 km north of Harmony Gold’s operating Masimong #5 (formerly Erfdeel) gold mine. The lease area is underlain by rocks of the Central Rand Group, which hosts a number of quartz pebble placer reefs. These reefs are widespread in their distribution across the goldfield.
The established mines of the Free State Goldfield (which are located to the south and west of Superior’s lease) have collectively produced well in excess of 300 million ounces of gold to date. Several of these produce uranium as a bi-product. Much of this historical production has been sourced from the Basal Reef of the Central Rand Group. There are a number of other reefs with more localized distribution which have also contributed to these historical production figures, such as the Leader, “A,” “B” and Beatrix reefs. Harmony’s Masimong gold mine, located less than 10 km south of Superior’s property, produced 147,958 ounces of gold during the 2007 fiscal year.
Superior’s objective is to explore this license area by diamond drilling to establish the presence of one or more of these reefs on the Mangalisa property and to delineate a mineral resource in the area. The program of four primary holes (to depths of between 1,000 and 1,500 metres), each with up to four ‘daughter deflections’ has been designed. The Company has contracted Percusso-Bor Pty Ltd of Oranjeville, Free State Province, to provide drilling services for this program.
The drilling program will involve percussive pre-drilling and casing-off of pre-collars through the Karoo sequence of rocks that overlay the Witwatersrand sequence that is of primary exploration interest. The Witwatersrand sequence of rocks will then be drilled by NQ wire-line technique. The predicted ‘reef’ intercepts will be drilled by conventional, TNW-sized diamond drilling methods to provide larger diameter core samples. The project laboratory for the analytical component of this program is Set Point Laboratories of Isando, South Africa.
The exploration program, comprising diamond drilling, QA/QC monitoring, core processing and laboratory/analytical procedures will be managed and signed-off by Snowden Mining Industry Consultants Pty. Ltd. of Johannesburg.

About Superior Mining
Superior Mining is currently actively exploring for gold and other precious and base metals in South Africa and New Zealand. An extensive exploration drilling program is currently underway at Superior’s Mangalisa project in South Africa, where the Company is exploring for Witwatersrand Basin reef-hosted gold and uranium mineralization in the Free State Goldfield, adjacent to Harmony Gold’s operating Masimong gold mine. Exploration in New Zealand is focused on two placer gold properties near Greymouth, on the west coast of the South Island, with an ongoing effort to evaluate additional hard rock prospects.
